Back to Mario Bava once again! This time with a new video essay for Indicator’s release of Four Times That Night.

The piece examines the film’s Rashomon-like structure, exploring how Mario Bava refracts a single encounter through multiple, conflicting perspectives turning a seemingly frivolous sex comedy into something more formally playful and psychologically revealing.

If you’d like to support my work, the release is available directly from Indicator, and picking up the edition is one of the best ways to support both independent physical media and the critical work that surrounds it.

I’ve recently contributed a new video essay, Radical Behaviour, to Eureka’s Limited Edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray release of Danger: Diabolik.

The piece looks at Mario Bava’s film as a work of anti-establishment pop culture, situating Diabolik within the political and aesthetic currents of Italian genre cinema.

If you’d like to support my work, the release is available directly from Eureka Video, and purchasing the edition is one of the best ways to support both independent physical media and the critical work that accompanies it.
